About Us
Our Bridal Makeup Artist Raj has over 18 years of experience within the makeup industry.
My makeup career started at the age of 18 with MAC Cosmetics. I have been part of the makeup team at London Fashion Week and The IFFA Awards. I have gained industry knowledge and training from Mario Dedivanovic, Val Garland and Mustafa Avci.
I’m obsessed with skin and have perfected my technique of creating a real skin like fkawless base.
I have a perfectionist attitude, an eye for detail, precision in application, and a well-developed appreciation of color, shading, and blending. I adapt to new environments and situations very quickly and easily.
I have a very calm nature which leaves my clients feeling relaxed and at ease when in my presence.

Couldn't recommend raj enough - the whole process from making the bookings on the website, trials and the actual wedding day felt so easy and stress free! I'm particular with how I like my make up and hair done and raj did a great job of translating my 'umm..' in to something I loved, which looked amazing but also suited me. Her honesty and willingness to explain why certain styles etc work / won't work made the whole experience straightforward and I had no worries about being in her very capable hands ! I recently had the pleasure of Raj doing my hair and make up for a work event , I had Raj do my hair and make up on my wedding which was 8 years ago!!!! The make up and hair was flawless and never moved all night. To be completely honest the reason for such a big gap was Raj was not very confident and doing up dos. However for my most recent event Raj did both to perfection. I've known Raj for 5 years now (not personally, just as a Make up artist) and she's done my make up several times. She's the only professional make up artist I know, who is actually Professional and honest. She has always turned up on time, without failure. She doesn't try and squeeze in as many customers as possible, and therefore is able to deliver a personalised service. I booked Raj very last minute for my engagement after she did a wonderful job on my aunt a few years back. I didn't have time to book a trial, but I'd seen her work and trusted her, she definitely didn't let me down! I used her website to make the booking - therealbride .com. It was very easy to create an account and navigate around the website. After making the booking, there is an area on the website which allows you to upload pictures of the type of look you're after, this is what I relied on since I was not able to have the trial. The website was very useful and meant that I was able to make my booking without having to wait for Raj to inform me of her availability. I definitely recommend that other brides make use of the website, it makes booking hassle free! Raj did a brilliant job with my make up on the actual day, I'll definitely be using her for upcoming events!

It's been 5 years since my wedding and I have to say that having Raj as my makeup artist was the best decision ever. Leading up to the wedding Raj was always there to give me advice on skin care and getting me ready for my big day. She understood the look I wanted and she was extremely calm and relaxed on the day which really helped settle my nerves. I don't even know wear to start with this review, and I've been meaning to do it for a long time!! I had a trial with Raj more than a year before my actual wedding, and it's the only trial I've ever had. Booked Raj straight away, as her genuine passion and desire for brides to feel amazing without being disguised under layers of make up shone through. Between the trial and the wedding, I got to know Raj a lot better, and therefore I booked her to do my preshoot, day after wedding and other weddings after my own and each look was so unique - really showed me that I don't have to stick to one routine look, different things can work for me. On my wedding day, Raj was so calm, friendly and laid back (the norm for Raj) and I distinctly remember the moment I looked in the mirror and Raj put the chunni on my head, I felt like I was a model in a bridal magazine. This is how I think every bride should feel, especially on the day that is all (mostly) about her. Luckily for me, I had booked Raj for a couple other events, and each look was flawless. Raj played a big part in making me feel so good on my big day, started my day off right - the make up didn't even budge when I bawled my eyes out that evening. Will My Artist Get Any Additional Guests Ready On My Wedding Days?
The bride's chosen artist will only get her ready on the day as we don't believe in compromising on the bride's time. There will be the sufficient number of artists to get any additional guests ready, providing this is booked in advance. All Real Bride artists are experienced within the industry and have received personal training from Raj to ensure they are delivering a high standard of work. Please note that it is at the discretion of the artist if they have to time to secure/set any dupattas or head scarves.

What Do I Need To Keep In My Handbag On My Wedding Day?
Tissues, cotton buds to soak up any tears before they drop, lipstick and a blotting powder. Lipstick is only dabbed onto the area of the lips where the colour has faded and powder is only ever applied where there is slight shine.

Is There A Particular Way That The Dupatta Should Be Draped?
As most bride's wear the dupatta on their head for over 10 hours, the dupatta will be secured and draped to not only look good, but to reduce the weight as much as possible without compromising on the way it falls. A lighter dupatta is always recommended as it is much easier to manage and also complements the outfit more stylishly when it flows freely with minimum pinning. A 2 inch border is ideal for most bride's.

Should I Be Wearing My Full Outfit Before My Stylist Arrives?
Bride's are asked to wear their full outfit before their artist arrives to prevent any situations of broken zips, tops not fitting etc being discovered at the last minute. These are things we cannot take responsibility for, as fixing them would disrupt the process of getting ready. It is the bride's responsibility to check the jewellery is not broken. The dupatta needs to be ironed, with all creases removed from the border, prior to the wedding day.

Should I Wash My Hair The Night Before, Or On The Actual Wedding Day?
As hair needs time to settle, bride's are requested to wash their hair the night before. This will eliminate any fly away hairs and will reduce any risk of starting late on the day. Hair should only be blow dried or blasted with a hairdryer as straightening with hair straighteners will leave the hair flat.

How Much Space Is Needed In The Room I Will Be Getting Ready In On My Wedding Day?
There needs to be enough room for the artist to work and for the bride to feel relaxed and not cramped. A chair with a high back is required for the bride to sit on and a long table or bed for the artist to lay their products and tools out. We request that bride's politely ask family members or friends to keep interruptions to a minimum to avoid delays on getting the bride ready on time. Bride's should also ensure that family members or friends store their own items of clothing or jewellery in another room.

Where Do You Get Me Ready On My Wedding Day?
We will travel out to your preferred location on the day. There may be an additional travel charge if this is outside our base area. We require a parking space outside the home or venue. Please ensure this is available before our arrival. If we have to come to a hotel, car parking will be charged to the room. If we are travelling within a congestion zone/area this would need to be paid for before our arrival.

Do I Need To Grow My Hair And How Long Does It Need To Be?
Hair needs to be shoulder length or longer (including the fringe) to achieve most styles, however we use the necessary amount of hair pieces/hair extensions and hair padding to create the bride's unique bridal hair style. We recommend the bride keeps her hair well conditioned and books a final trim at the hair salon 6 weeks prior to her big day.

Does My Makeup Need To Be Heavier To Show Up On Camera?
With our expertise, product knowledge and application techniques the bride's makeup will look flawless on camera without feeling heavy. We spend time researching makeup brands and only use the best products available on the market. The bride's makeup will last the full day with touch ups only needed on the T-Zone and lips.

Do I Have To Book A Trial?
A trial is an excellent idea, especially when the bride has her chosen outfit and jewellery to bring in, as we create your bespoke look to compliment these. Although not compulsory, as some bride's do book and leave it in our hands on the actual day, once the bride has her wedding date, it adds immensely to her peace of mind to have a trial, as she will then know exactly how she will look. It also gives us a chance to meet up and build on our relationship, so that she feels more relaxed and comfortable. bride's should ideally research some styles and looks to bring in with them, enabling us to see their inspirations.
